An efficient in vitro propagation of Momordica dioica Roxb. ex. Willd
Issue Date
6-2006
Abstract
Multiple shoots were induced from nodal, shoot tip and axillary bud of Momordica dioica Roxb. ex Willd. The maximum number of multiple shoots was obtained from MS medium containing BAP (2.0 mg L-1) and KIN (1.0 mg L-1) for nodal explants, BAP (1.0 mg L-1) combined with Ads (2.0 mg L-1) for shoot tip and BAP (2.0 mg L-1) with Ads (1.0 mg L-1) for axillary buds. Maximum elongation of shoots from nodal, shoot tip and axillary bud explants occurred on MS medium augmented with GA3 at 0.75 mg L-1 and 1.0 mg L-1. Elongated shoots were harvested and transferred to MS medium containing IAA (1.0 mg L-1) for root induction. Rooted plants were acclimatized and further successfully transferred to the field.
