Abstract
"Taking It Home, A Sourcebook of Experiential Learning Exercises for Social Science 1" is a preliminary effort in putting together initially twenty-eight activities which can be used by facilitators of Social Science to supplement classroom lectures and discussions. The exercises are meant to encourage more classroom dynamics and participation, as well as learner-centered processing of inputs from the teacher-facilitator.
Except for those classified under the last unit of the sourcebook, the activities, designed and/or chosen for each unit, deal with at least one subject matter covered by the general topics outlined per unit.
The revitalization of Social Science 1 (Foundations of Behavioral Sciences) as a G.E. course by making it more learner-centered and experiential, is central to the objectives of the sourcebook. The hope is for learners to be able to bring Social Science 1 beyond the four walls of the classroom so that it can impact on the present and future lives of those who are, at one time or another, exposed to the course.
