Abstract
It has been recognized that most of the decision-making problems in environmental planning are multidimensional and usually involve multiple, noncommensurable, and conflicting objectives, which should be considered simultaneously. One of the major approaches to decision-making under constraints is multiobjective linear programming, where the notion of Pareto optimality or efficiency has been introduced. However, decisions with Pareto optimality are not uniquely determined. The final decisions must be selected from among the set of pareto optimal solutions. Consenquently, the aim of a multi-objective linear program is to derive a compromise solution for a decision maker or stakeholder, which is also pareto optimal based on subjective value judgements.
Considering the impressive nature of the stakeholders judgment in multiple objective linear programming problems, a programming approach under imprecision of fuzziness seems to be very applicable and promising for dealing with hum, a sentered decision-making multiobjective problem.
