Abstract

Climate change is one of the most urgent international problems and concerns of the day, and to combat it, numerous researches demonstrate that Artificial Intelligence (AI) could be utilized. The researchers analyzed and discussed the existing Philippine Legal Framework for the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in climate change mitigation. In addition, a general overview of the opportunities and legal problems presented by the Climate Change Act and the Paris Agreement were also discussed. The researchers began writing this research paper by conducting a literature review. The scope of this research study is an in-depth examination and assessment of the roles, potential, and current legal difficulties of Artificial Intelligence. It revealed that the Philippines must yet deal with the rapidly expanding institutionalization initiatives. The government's initiative to establish a broad AI framework could be viewed as a step in the right direction, but it should be converted into tangible activities. The AI framework built in the Philippines may incorporate research and innovation, and the same language may be used in the future to designate priorities in other fields of AI innovation that have no direct connection to combating climate change. It is suggested that the construction of a framework must include clear and concrete directions that favor innovation support and the use of AI to combat the climate-related catastrophe.
