Abstract

This study explores factors that influence fast food consumption among senior high school students in and around Los Baños, Laguna. It aimed to explore various factors that influence fast food consumption and the frequency of fast food consumption, as well as demographic-related factors, awareness levels, and the impact of social media and advertising behind them. Data was collected from six different senior high schools, both through online and physical answering methods, then tabulated in spreadsheets, and then analyzed in a quantitative method. Findings indicate that female senior high school students, as well as students below the legal age, consume fast food more frequently than their opposite counterparts. Socio-economic status also has a nuanced impact, where it was found that students from upper-middle class households tend to consume fast food the most frequently. Social media and advertising, social gathering aspects, taste preferences, and primary breadwinner && preparer of food, are also other significant factors. Despite being generally aware of the possible effects fast food has on human health. senior high school students still opt to consume fast food for taste, variety and convenience.
