Line 1720 had the highest percentage germination and was the earliest to germinate. It al,so had the highest percentage of female flowers and was the most resistant to downy mildew. Lines 1705 and 1711 were moderately resistant while Poinset 76 was susceptible.

Line 1711 had the fastest rate of fruit enlargement while line 1720 was the fastest in fruit elongation. Line 1720 also had the lowest bitterness rating and Poinset 76 the highest.
