Abstract

A combination of the power series method and the Levin u-transformation is used to evaluate the parabolic cylinder function. A sequence of partial sue approximations is generated from the power series expansion of the function, and the convergence of the sequence is accelerated by the u-transformation. Using the expansion the results obtained agree with the tabulated values in the Handbook of Mathematical Functions by Abramowitz and Stegun.
