Abstract

The off-campus major practice was conducted at the Philippine High School for the Arts (PHSA), National Arts Center (NAC) in Mt. Makiling, College, Laguna. This was accomplished from November to March during the second semester of the school year 1999 to 2000. An on-campus practice was carried out, from April to May 2000. The student engrossed in maintaining the Welcome Garden located at the UPLB Main Gate. A variety of landscape maintenance operations were performed during the major practice. These landscape maintenance operations involve pruning, watering, fertilization, weed control, site clearing, mulching, mowing, transplanting, and edging. A descriptive study and analysis of the practices were both taken into consideration. A related study was also done in furnishing the cost estimate of landscape maintenance as a practice in one of the sites where the major practice was conducted. Problems that were encountered on two sites were noted and cautiously analyzed. Recommendations were also presented and lessons learned were enumerated during the major practice.
