Abstract

This study was done to compare a monocropped coconut farm with an intercropped one. A total of 20 farmers half from Barrio Isabang and other half from Barrio Calumpang were surveyed. They were grouped into two: those practicing coconut-banana cropping system and coconut monoculture.

Analysis of the coconut-banana cropping system resulted in 24% yield increase in the coconut palms in Isabang and 62% in Calumpang. Furthermore, intercropped farms produced higher net income as compared to monocropped one P1,494.94 (249%) and P923.24 (129%) more income derived in Isabang and Calumpang respectively.
