Abstract
Shallow foundation, mostly isolated footing was originally designed as foundation of Trace College, Fort Bonifacio. The decision of using isolated footing was assessed in the study. However, bored piles were used in a certain area where loose soil was found during construction. The decision to used Bored Piles in these certain areas with loose soil was also assessed in this study. From the soil report, the recommended bearing capacity of the soil is 250 kPa. The bearing capacity of the isolated footings was computed to be greater than the recommended bearing capacity with a settlement less than 5cm. Piles were also analyzed and checked for adequacy. the allowable load capacity of the two pile groups is greater than the loads it carries with settlement less than 2cm. Considering the bearing capacity and the settlement of the isolated footing, the decision of choosing isolated footing as the foundation of the structure is correct. Furthermore, based on the a load capacity and settlement of pile groups, the use of bored piles in the area with loose soil is correct.
