Abstract

The major plant practice was conducted at Xyzco Foods Corporation at Marikina City from April 9 to May 7, 2012. Xyzco Foods Corporation is a commissary that mainly produces precut vegetables and premixed sauces. Products are processed depending on the necessity of the customer. The trainee was exposed to different aspects of food processing operations in which she applied her knowledge about selection, preservation, processing, packaging and distribution of foods. For a total of 150 hours, knowledge on quality assurance, monitoring of good manufacturing practices, documentation, checking of raw materials up to dispatching of products were acquired. The plant practice was an unforgettable chapter of the author’s life where she learned and experienced many things. She learned that team work and cooperation are two important things needed to achieve one’s goal. Moreover she learned how to think fast, make decisions quickly and do things without being told. Problems ran into during the plant practice were observed and possible solutions were recommended.
