Abstract

The study enhances the experiment, " Friction on an Inclined Plane" in Physics 3 through the use of a PC-based measurement of coefficient of friction, direct current principles and an analog-to-digital conversion. The PCADCl2 card is incorporated to the 80386 microprocessor which served as the window from the analog world. The set-up is made up of aluminum and a DC motor to power up the inclination of the inclined plane. The experiment found the coefficient of friction for aluminum on aluminum equal to 0.30, wood on aluminum equal to 0.45, plastic on aluminum equal to 0.33 and rubber on aluminum equal to 0.89. The mean and deviation of the computed values are determined and compared with its ideal values.
