Abstract
Coconut water fortified with horse serum and phytohemagglutinin crude extract was used as a medium for human leukocytes. the pH of the medium was adjusted to approximately 7.2 with 7% sodium bicarbonate buffer. the cells were cultured for 72 hours at 37°C.
Cell viability in coconut water was maintained, however, its performance was inferior as compared to the standard chromosome medium. no metaphase cells were apparent, although a few cells at the prophase stage pf cell division were evident.
