Abstract
Two hundred forty seven households consisting of 932 individuals of Barangay Batong Malake, Los Banos, Laguna were interviewed and blood typed. The observed phenotype frequencies were: 0.2425 A, 0.2596 B, 0.0730 AB and 0.4249 0. Gene frequencies found were: f(A)= 0.17, f(B)= 0.18 and f(0)= 0.65. Using the chi-square test for goodness of fit it was found that the ABC blood type frequencies follow the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. Association of ABO blood group and human disorders was found to exist in three of the disorders under study. Blood type B is correlated with allergy (C.0.0876 at P.0.037); convulsion (C.0,102 at P. 0.011) and duodenal ulcer (0= 0.0866 at P. 0..04w ). Only an association between convulsion and type B is supported by two family data. No association was found to exist between ABC blood group and appendicitis, asthma, congenital heart disease, hypertension, jaundice, keloid tendency, rheumatism, sweaty feet, and varicose veins.
