Abstract
Acetocarmine squash preparations of Carnoy's fixed root tips of castor bean. Ricinus communis L. revealedthat premetaphase cells occurs between 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM. The complete stages namely, prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase, were observed. Mitotic index was 33.08 percent. The diploid chromosome number was 20 consisting of median and submedian types of chromosomes. The centrometric index ranged from 30.77 to 44.34 percent. The mean relative length from 0.04 to 0.07.
