Abstract
Malunggay. Moringa oleifera Lam, a well known vegetable and medicinal plant, was utilized in cytological study to determine the chromosome number and chromosomal traits such as mitotic index and chromosomal length.Acetocarmine squash technique revealed that the modal chromosome number of somatic cells of M. oleifera was 2n.16. Few cells had chromosome number of 2n=14 and 2n=18. Mean length of the chromosomes ranged from 0.007 to 0.015. The mitotic index of premetaphase cells was found to be 88.327.
