Abstract

A total of 79 plant species and 44 plant families, recommended as treatment fur Dibetes melitusby the 42 respondents from Olongapo City and Pangasinan (Ilokano and Pangasinan Speaking Regions), together with citations from various herbal literature were compiled and identified. The duhat, (Syzygium cumini); was found to be the most commonly used herbal plant for Diabetes melitus (17.88%) Most of the information were recommended by the traditional healers (30.95%). and the old folks were the major source of information (35.85%).
