Abstract

The plant practice was conducted at the Food and Nutrition Research Institute-Department of Science and Technology located at Bicutan, Taguig City. The student-trainee satisfied 150 hours of training from April to May 2012. During the course of training, the student-trainee was able to perform physic-chemical analyses and to assist in sensory evaluation, packaging of complementary food products and extruded snack foods, and other Institute's plant operations. As part of the training program, the student-trainee took two written exams and did a Library Research Paper on Cold Extrusion, which was presented orally to a panel of researchers from FNRI. In general, the plant practice not only enhanced the theoretical knowledge of the student-trainee in food science and technology by being involved in their applications through research and development, but also gave her the opportunity to get a first-hand experience on technical practices in research and development laboratories. learn proper work ethics and improve her social skills.
