Abstract

Chamaedora seifrizii flowers at its second to third year of growth and development. The flower buds are spirally arranged arranged along the rachilla and occur singly. Anthesis of male flower is maximum from 12:30 to 6:30. while anther dehiscence is completed by 8:30 am. Morphological differences between male and female flowers were also established. Meiosis in C. seifrizii occurs at 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. and the chromosomes number is 2n=26. Thirteen bivalents were observed at diakinesis. Meiosis is generally normal although logging chromosomes were observed in 6.9% of the cells at enaphase I. These abnormalities did not disturb the normal behavior of the chromosomes during meiosis. C. seifrizii produces as much as 86.12% fertile pollen.
