ADVISER: DR. ADELINA A. BARRION
Egg masses collected from reared Leucauge argentine (van Hasselt) which were fixed in Carnoy's solution and stained with lacto-acetoorcein revealed the somatic chromosome number of the species as 2n=24. Arm ratio ranged from 1.11 to 3.63, thus classifying the chromosomes as median, submedian and subterminal. From the ten pre-metaphase cells, chromosome relative lengths were determined to range from 0.063 to 0.123. Mitosis was regular and normal. The mean mitotic index was 71.5%.
