Abstract

This study deals with two related entities: the agricultural extension of a development-based agency and the agricultural system of the area it works with. Through an extension internship at the El Nido Foundation, Inc. (ENFI) conducted summer of year 2011 and gathering of secondary data, the agricultural system of the Municipality of El Nido, in particular, is analysed as it is affected by the interventions of the ENFI. The study was performed for the student to apply the knowledge gained inside the classroom and for her to gain practical experiences in local institution’s agricultural extension and other development-associated activities; identify and analyse the agricultural system of El Nido as affected by the projects implemented by the Foundation; and assess significant points necessary in enriching agricultural extension practices based from the internship experience. It was noted that the ENFI is guided by a stakeholder-approved community- based resource management framework to cater the needs of the people of El Nido, Palawan. Descriptive results noted the positive influences of the Foundation’s projects to the agricultural system of El Nido and to the whole community per se, through the use of an efficient and effective development framework.
