Abstract

The practicum was conducted at Pepsi Cola Products Philippines in 13arangay Tunasan, Muntinlupa City from April 16, 2012 to May 10, 2012 for a total of 150 hours. The trainee was assigned to the Microbiology division of the Quality Assurance Department. She was asked to perform microbial analysis of the raw materials as well as the company's products. The company manufactures carbonated soft drinks and non-carbonated beverages. Aside from the knowledge in microbiology, the trainee was given the chance to observe and gain knowledge on manufacturing process as well as on how physicochemical analyses are being carried out. The trainee was familiarized with the workplace environment of a real manufacturing line and gained more experience on working relations and application of the principles she acquired in the University. Different plant practices and routines were cited along with further suggestions and recommendations. The said training not only provided the trainee 'book-based' information but it provided her an excerpt on her possible career path in the field of Food Technology.
