Abstract

The plant practice was conducted from April to May 2012 at Unilever Philippines, Inc. located at 1351 United Nations Avenue, Paco, Manila. Unilever is a worldwide company that sells commodities from home and personal care to foods. Innovation of their product is constant, as well as tried and tested products in order to meet challenging tastes, lifestyles and expectations of the consumers. The required number of hours, which was 150 hours was completed. She was assigned at the Microbiology Laboratory of the Quality Assurance Department on the whole duration of the plant practice. She was able to (1) prepare the media needed for testing, (2) encode the samples tested such as raw materials, local and imported finished goods, samples from the Research and Development team, and swabs from environmental monitoring, (3) maintain the cleanliness of the pieces of equipment, (4) perform inventory, and (5) test the samples. She learned to be organized and be time-conscious, and she was able to apply the techniques in the laboratory learned from the university.
