Abstract

The major plant practice was completed at the Safety, Environment, Quality, and Regulatory Affairs (SEQRA) Department of Edward Keller (Philippines), Inc., a toll manufacturing food company. The training, with 150-hr duration, was spent working inside the Quality Assurance Laboratory wherein various analytical procedures applied to food and packaging materials such as physico-chemical analyses, sensory evaluation, and microbiological analyses for food and measurements and leak tests for packaging materials, and laboratory techniques such as proper usage and handling of equipment and instruments, and proper execution of laboratory tests were learned. The plant practice allowed the student-trainee to expand and hone not only his academic knowledge but his people skills as well, through working and socializing with employees of the department.
