Abstract
Yellow Yolks Poultry Farm is a poultry farm focusing on the production of chicken eggs for consumption which aims to provide freshly-harvested eggs to households, sari-sari stores, and business who uses eggs in producing their product that are situated in Barangay Bangag, Aparri, Cagayan. Establishing the poultry farm near its target market, this makes chicken eggs more available and accessible in catering the chicken egg demand of the community.
In offering fresh chicken eggs to its target market, Yellow Yolks aims to ease the worry of the people in the community as to where they will source their chicken eggs considering that the existence of layer poultry farms is not prevalent to the whole province even up this day whereas, only eight commercial layer poultry farms exist in the whole Cagayan province. In this sense, establishing a poultry farm to an area where chicken eggs can only be bought either from the nearest town market or from a tricycle vendor who comes only once a week, this will solve the problem of every household, sari-sari stores and business who are having trouble finding where to source their fresh chicken eggs.
In venturing to this business, the poultry target to offer its fresh products to the residents of Barangay Bangag in Aparri, Cagayan particularly to the households and business who needs eggs. We cater to those consumers who uses eggs for food consumption such as using it as a main ingredient or as an ingredient to different recipes and desserts. Bakeries which use eggs in baking their products and the panciterias which puts eggs as a topping to their pancit dishes are also being targeted.
Establishing the business earlier this year, Yellow Yolks Poultry Farm managed to consistently supply two sari-sari stores, one panciteria and one bakery. The enterprise even managed to sell to consumer household who goes directly to the owner's house in order to acquire their chicken eggs. The presence of egg vendors deemed as the business’s competitors makes it hard for business to compete with the prices as the egg vendors has the capability of lowering their prices as they source their chicken eggs from big poultry farms but despite of that, the business still managed to acquire sales and be competitive by taking advantage of the freshness of eggs offered as well as its proximity to the market. As the production capacity of the business can still be considered limited, the business relies on word of mouth marketing to reduce costs on promotional activities but despite of that, customers continues to visit the owner's house to purchase egg supplies and businesses are now consistently ordering from Yellow Yolks Poultry Farm. Look at the financial performance of the enterprise for a duration of 5 weeks the business only managed to generate a revenue of P14,855 with a costs of P130,852.75. It is understandable that the business has a huge amount of expenses as the Ready to Lay Chicken with Cages as well as the Chicken Housing is really expensive. Moving forward, the business aims to recover all the capital expenses as as well as its month operational costs.
Starting as a backyard farming with less than 200 heads capacity, Yellow Yolks Poultry Farm wants to establish its place in the industry of chicken eggs in the whole province by slowly expanding it capacity until it can cater to a larger target market. Considering the market gap existing in the area, this will be a big opportunity for the farm to provide freshly harvested chicken eggs and cate not just the community of the Barangay Bangag but also, to the whole Cagayan province someday and let the name Yellow Yolks Poultry Farm be widely known in the province.
