Abstract
viruses. In fact, Cicadulina species are the only known vectors of maize stress virus diseas which causes broken chlorotic lines on foliage and stunting of cereal crops and grasses in many African countries (Rose, 1972). This as a result, they have caused destruction to agricultural crops especially maize. The taxonomy of Cicadulina species is slowly but surely enriching, however, studies on its biology still lag behind. This contributes for additional biological feats of Cicadulina species C. bipunctata. Specifically, it deals with the cytology and provides information on the spermatogenetic cells and chromosomes of C. bipunctata. This study was conducted at the Cytogenetics Laboratory of the Institute of Biological Sciences, University of the Philippines at Los Banos from December. 1987 to March, 1988.
