Abstract

GNQ Industrial & Contracting Corporation is a company that specializes in the design and installation of refrigeration and air0conditioning systems for different kinds of industries. The installation service of the company, which is 70% of the annual revenue of the company, is experiencing a lot of problems and one of these is the delays in completing a project. A specific scenario happened in a past project for Royal Fishing Corporation where GNQ suffered 77 days of delay that cost them PhP2,063,110. Thus, this study aimed to reduce the number of days of project completion of GNQ Industrial & Contracting Corporation. Root-Cause Analysis was performed using Ishikawa diagram and the causes of delay were categorized into Man, Machine, Method, Material, and Environment. Afterwards, CNX analysis was done by classifying the root causes identified Noise, Controllable, and Experimental factors. Controllable factors were grouped into five-pertaining to supervision, training, documentation, equipment monitoring, and supplier control-and were given recommendations. For supervisions, rules on break time should be implemented and workers on site should be monitored to reduce the unproductive hours. For training the project engineer should take a training program to improve leadership skills and to instill a sense of responsibility so that he can supervise the conduct of the project better. For documentation, the project engineer should document the conduct of the project in order to improve scheduling. For equipment monitoring, there should be a form to be filled out describing the condition of the equipments brought to site to reduce the cases of bringing defective equipments on site. For supplier control, the company should build a relationship with its suppliers and create contract that would ensure on time delivery of materials.A total ,of alternatives were formulated and presented for the experimental factors. These alternatives were evaluated and three were selected. First is to implement Rucker wage incentive plan to give motivation to workers and engineers to finish the project on schedule or even earlier. Second is to develop a computerized database and by storage bins to improve material flow in the company and to reduce the delays due to lack of materials at project site. Third is to purchase three industrial fans to reduce the work stoppage of workers particularly the welders due to warm environment at project site. These recommendations could have saved PhP1,929,968 in the Royal Fishing Corporation project and reduced the number of days by 72.72% or from 77 days to 21 days.
