Abstract

The major plant practice was conducted at the Milk Joy Corporation processing plant located at Bolbok, Lipa City, Batangas from April 2 to April 26, 2012. The company produces Whole Milk, Non Fat Milk, and Low Fat Milk exclusively for Starbucks. It also produces other milk products like Chocolate Milk, Yogurt and White Cheese. The fresh raw milk used to make these products, is delivered every day, and comes from several farms like Alcantara, BADACO, Tarnate, Kiwi and Lica. The company follows strict Good Manufacturing Procedures and maintains high quality products through good quality assurance and control. The Quality Control at Milk Joy Corporation involves organoleptic tests, physico-chemical tests, and microbiological tests of raw milk and finished products. These tests were assigned to the student and were done daily. Aside from work in the laboratory, work at the bottling area, filling area, and loading area for vehicle and product inspection were experienced by the student. Chocolate slurry making for chocolate milk processing and yogurt starter culture making for yogurt processing were done by the student occasionally.
