Abstract

The farm practice was conducted at LICA Dairy Farm, a small-scale dairy farm located in Brgy. Marawoy, Lipa City, Batangas from April 25 to May 25, 2011. The farm currently maintains 30 head of dairy animals, produces raw milk and processes it into different dairy products such as fresh milk, choco milk, low fat milk, white cheese, cheese spread, and yoghurt in their kitchen-type processing plant. Aside from dairying, LICA Dairy Farm is also engaged in vegetable gardening, growing Malaysian mums or chrysanthemum, coconut farming, and goat and sheep raising. The farm practice aims to expose the student to the actual dairy farming, apply and differentiate the technical principles learned in the class to actual practice. The student was able to perform and experience different dairy farm activities such as calf management, feeding, milking, milk processing, and recording. Technical and SWOT Analyses were conducted. Problems encountered in the farm were identified by the student, and possible solutions and recommendations were presented.
