Abstract

The practicum was conducted at the Quality Assurance Department of Edward Keller Philippines Inc., Carmelray Industrial Park I, Canlubang, Laguna from April 10 to May 11, 2012 for a total of 153 hrs. Edward Keller Philippines Inc. is a leading provider of technologically advanced, innovative specialty ingredients, products, services, and solutions to key industries in the Philippines, other parts of Asia, and the world. During the course of the training, the student conducted different chemical and physical analyses of raw food materials and finished products, inspected packaging materials and labels, and documentations related to the Quality Assurance Department of the company. The student gained competence and became exposed to the different technical practices and developments in the food industry. The student also improved intrapersonal skills and self-confidence through social interactions with supervisors and co-workers in the company. Suggested solutions to the problems encountered in the plant practice were also encouraged to be raised.
