Abstract
Albumin fraction of makapuno nut endosperm was extracted using prechilled distilled water. The protein was precipitated by adding 1 N HCL at pH 3.9. Gel chromatography on a Sephadex G-75 and G-100 column using 20 mM sodium phosphate buffer yielded two peaks with the peaks in G-100 relatively smaller. SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of the albumin fraction revealed three bands (Rm - 0.94, 0.79, 0.08) with corresponding molecular weights of 14,000, 23,000 and 59,000 daltons.
