Abstract

The major farm practice was conducted at F1 Ferrari Farm in Brgy. San Juan, Sta. Cruz, Laguna, from May 4 to May 28, 2011. The major practice was conducted in the farm to have hands-on experience in the daily operations on a swine farm; to develop the skills necessary for effective management and supervision of a swine farm; and to learn how to work with other people also engaged in the swine and other sectors of the animal industry. F1 Ferrari Farm has four major sections namely breeding, farrowing, growing- finishing and feed mill. The activities done during the entire major practice include giving assistance to farrowing animals, removal of the fetal membrane in the face of the piglets, weighing of piglets, cutting of the umbilical cord and the needle teeth, ear notching, tail docking, castrating, semen collection, evaluation, artificial insemination and administering vaccinations and medications. A technical analysis was done to assess the current situation of the farm. Recommendations were discussed in attempt to offer possible solutions to existing problems faced by the farm.
