Abstract

The total protein content and the distribution of available lysine in three anatomical fractions were determined in four local varieties of corn, namely, UPCA Var. 1, UPCA Var. 2, UPCA Var. 3 and DMR 2. The effect of variety and the anatomical fractions of the corn kernel were found to be highly significant in relation to the total protein levels and the distribution of lysine for all varieties. The correlations between protein content and lysine content was discussed.
