Abstract
Fiberboards were manufactured by the Conventional Notary digester process and the Asplund Defibrator process. The physical and mechanical. properties of the boards produced by the two processes were studied and compared. modulus of rupture values were similar for boards produced by both processes. However, the Notary Digester process gave boards with higher modulus of alas values. The water absorption value was lower for the notary Digester boards. most of the boards had values of modulus of rupture within the Federal specifications for 1/8-inch hard-board. ale results indicate that high quality hardboard could be produced from sugar cane bagasse. Aside from the conventional process. the Asplund Defibrator can be effectively used on sugar cane Bagasse.
