Abstract
Women in the world have always been undermined, left behind or neglected in every aspect in our society. Little did the society noticed the growing importance of women in development and nation building. The women of today, not only involve themselves in household activities, but also work outside of their homes to add something to the meager salary the family is earning. Now, they are proving their importance as equal partners of men in the upliftment of their status in life. Current rural development programs are starting to include these women in their projects and concern as their significance is slowly being noticed. This study focused exclusively on the marginalized women of Brgy. Tuntungin in Los Baños. The study attempted to have first hand descriptors of their characteristic, present conditions, their hopes, dreams and aspiration and as to how they cope up with their everyday problems that they encounter in life. The case study method was employed in the study. Two marginalized women were analyzed and interpreted. They were Myrna Lantican and Salvacion Pulborido. Ethnographic video utilizing cinema-direct technique was used to analyze and interpret the data gathered. It also offered additional insights about modern day marginalized women. Other pertinent data were gathered from other related publications and secondary references such as studies and research about woman kept by the staff of the UPLB Gender Program for Rural Development based at the College of Human Ecology and some references were available at the main library. Analysis and interpretation of the two marginalized women showed that the life of these marginalized women is very much affected by lack of education, meager salary they are earning and the discrimination they get from the society. With their continuous participation in the labor force, their importance is being slowly noticed by the government and non-government agencies, as well. These women's efforts are vital to the society's development.
