Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the utilization of App-Generated Motorcycle Taxi (AGMT) among users in Metro Manila. The researcher used 201 valid responses to identify the factors that affect the utilization of AGMT. The study used the multinomial logistic regression model to identify the factors such as socio-demographic and economic characteristics, trip information, and service characteristics. This model examined the factors that influence the likelihood of a user to be an incidental, occasional, or frequent user.

Based on the research findings, most respondents were occasional users. The study revealed that respondents included in the younger age group, specifically between the ages of 21 and 30, employed, and do not own a private vehicle were more likely to use AGMTs more frequently. Furthermore, the study identified that reliability and comfort are among the key determinants of the users to be occasional users. Reliability had a positive effect for occasional users. However, comfort had a negative effect, indicating that occasional users may tolerate lower comfort levels. Moreover, income and leisure had a significant effect for the frequent users. AGMT users with higher incomes are more likely to use AGMT. Leisure activities had an inverse effect on frequent AGMT use, indicating that frequent AGMT use is more tied to essential travel for job, education, or business.
