Abstract

The practicum student had done his practicum in the Philippine Rice Research Institute between June to July, 2018. During his stay in the institute, the he was able to attend the field observations of indigenous Agta communities and the data validation seminars in Albay, Bicol. The tasks in the institute were output-based projects involving creating a policy recommendation based on the field observations from Albay, Bicol and the data available in the institute. This manuscript aims to illustrate the organizational structure of the Philippine Rice Research Institute. It also describes the relationships and interactions among the employees in the institute. The field observations gave the practicum student insights on the problems present in the Agta communities in Albay that prevents the adoption of the farming practices initiated by the Philippine Rice Research Institute. Through the activities during the practicum, some problems such as Land Ownership, Lack of Available Resources, and Aging Farmer Population had been identified to be present in the Agta community.
