Abstract
The major practice was conducted at Villa Escudero Plantations and Resort (VESPAR) in Tiaong, Quezon from June to July 2019. VESPAR is a tourist attraction that is 800 hectares of working coconut plantation and resort located 10 kilometers (6.2 mi) south of the city of San Pablo, Laguna Province on the border with Quezon Province in the Philippines. The student observed and participated in landscape management operations within the plantation and resort. The major maintenance operations in the site were mowing, trimming, weeding, and pruning (including trees). The main problems observed in the site were the improper techniques done in these maintenance operations and the unused Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The estimated basic cost for monthly maintenance operations is Php 7.72 per square meter, which shows the cost-effectiveness of the landscape maintenance program. This is also reflected by the excellent quality and condition of landscapes. During the major practice, the student gained both technical and practical knowledge in landscape maintenance operations.
