Abstract

The 150-hour period of practicum was conducted at Edward Keller (Philippines), Inc. located at 101 Prosperity corner Unity Avenue, Carmelray Industrial Park I Canlubang, Calamba City, 4028 Laguna, Philippines under the Regulatory Affairs Department from April to May 2014. The company is well-known for the toll manufacturing services. Their products include bakery mixes, bakery toppings and fillings, beverage concentrates, seasonings, marinades, meat seasonings and tenderizers, sauces, snack food seasonings, soup seasonings, syrups. The trainee worked under the Quality Assurance Department where he learned technical analyses done in raw materials and finished goods. These are physico-chemical analyses, microbiological analyses, product application tests, packaging material tests, and sensory evaluation. The trainee also improved his laboratory skills during the plant practice. At the end of the training, a comprehensive written report regarding the practicum was prepared which comprises all the pertinent information about the company that contributed to the trainee's learning together with some recommendations that may help to further improve the company's operations.
