Abstract

The plant practice was conducted at Mondelez International, formerly Kraft Foods Philippines, located at 8738 Dr. A. Santos Avenue, Sucat, Paranaque City from April 8 to July 25, 2014 for a total of 516 hours. The company is an American multinational confectionary, food and beverage corporation that has successfully launched product brands in the Philippines such as Cadbury, Calumet, Cheez Whiz, Chips Ahoy!, Eden, Eden Mayo, Eden Sandwich Spread, Halls, Kraft Cheddar, Miracle Whip, Oreo, Tang, Tiger and Toblerone. The student-trainee was assigned under the Cheese and Groceries team of Research, Development, and Quality Department. Throughout the internship period, the student trainee was able to conduct prototype development, sensory evaluation, pilot plant trials, cost analysis, raw material study exercises, and project documentations. The trainee appreciated the technical aspects of Research and Development and how scientific principles apply to actual product development. Also, the trainee gained new knowledge and skills relevant to the activities of Research and Development. Further, the entire training has honed the student-trainee's skills in documentation, presentation and communication. Lastly, the working environment has helped the student-trainee to develop professionalism and proper working etiquette which would be useful to her future career.
