Abstract

The plant practice was condcucted at Central Azucarera Don pedro, Inc. (CADPI) located at Brgy. Lumbangan, Nasugbu, BAtangas. This was done to be able to apply the knowledge gained from the university, to familiarize with the different industrial equipment and to gain some hand-on experience in the actual operations in the factory. The raw and refined production was observed. Actual application of the theoretical knowledge was done in various departments of CADPI including the mills, boiling house, raw house, refinery, quality control, ESMD, and boilers. A special topic was assigned to properly assess the conditions of the boilers, to evaluate the impact of scaling and deposition on the tubes and pipes with cost of supplement fuels consumed to attain required amount of feed for efficient operation. The topic aimed also to determine whether there was possible relationship between effect of scaling and deposition to the factory's profit. It was found that there were direct and indirect cost of scale and corrosion. Several factors which cause scaling and deposition were enumerated. Furthermore, some measures to improve the bopiler operations were recommended.
