Abstract

One of the challenges that Civil engineers face in the field of construction in the Philippines is the estimation of steel bars in reinforced concrete beams. Because of the tedious work it brings, calculations take long hours with high possibility of committing errors. Confusion may also take place in the computation of the rebar cutting length using the lap splices because this connection involves different location restrictions for top bars and bottom bars. In this study, a simplesoftware for estimating main rebars in beams in accordance with the commercial lengths and diameters in the Philippines was developed using Microsoft Visual Basic 2010 Express. The components of the interface and the algorithm of the software were discussed.
