Abstract

Nestlé is one of the leading food industries in the country that produces top quality products ranging from beverages and snacks to infant formulas and pet care. The company produces 28 “Billionaire” brands which includes Nescafé™, Nestea™, Milo™, Coffee-mate™, Kitkat™, Nesquik™, Nido™, Carnation™, Maggi™, Dreyer’s™, Friskies™, and Purina™. Nestlé Philippines Incorporated (NPI), an PhP86 billion company in 2009, supplies in 23 countries and belongs to the top eight Philippine corporations. The primary concern of Nestlé is to provide their clients with top quality, wholesome products. The practicum was conducted at the Cereal Partners Worldwide – Breakfast Cereal Production (CPW-BFC) plant of Nestlé Lipa Factory, Bagong Pook, Lipa City, Batangas. The training covers more than 150 hours from April 26 to June 3, 2011. The activities undertaken were documentation of differences in specifications of raw materials for breakfast cereals, recording of equipment specifications, observation of the production process, and performance of in-line quality analyses. The said activities have allowed the trainee to apply her theoretical knowledge from the University to the workplace. The activities also provided the trainee with a clearer view of the nature of her chosen field. New knowledge and techniques were learned from the training that gives the trainee leverage as a food technologist.
