Abstract

To supply a large electrical load, Central Azucarera Don Pedro, Inc., an isolated power system uses multiple generators running in parallel. Parallel operation of generators results to load sharing of each individual unit. Load sharing is the proportional division of electrical loads to parallel generator sets. Load shared of each generator unit depends on their individual rated capacity. Load sharing is also dependent on the operation of the speed governor of each generator unit. Speed governor maintains a constant speed of a turbine generator. Any change in electrical load, the speed governor will try to maintain the rated speed of the unit. For a reliable operation, control system for load sharing must be accurate and must have fast response to system changes.
