Abstract

The farm practice was conducted at Lexter Farms, Lumbang na Bata, Calaca, Batangas from May 4, 2010 to June 4, 2010. The farm practice exposed the student to the different farm operations in a 300-sow level population. The student was able to apply the theoretical knowledge gained from previous courses in animal science through attentive participation in the daily farm operations which included cleaning, feeding, transfer of pigs and the administration of medicines. Also, artificial insemination and litter management practices were performed. Technical and SWOT analyses of the farm were done to help identify various management practices involved and their significance to the whole farm operation and problems encountered by the farm to be able to find solutions and improve standards of various farm operations.
