Abstract
Body score is one of the parameters considered in live grading of cattle according to PNS/BAFPS 87:2010. Body score is subject to human judgment, which is said to be subjective. To solve this, an image processing technique for determining body score of live cattle was developed. Pictures of cattle at Padre Garcia Livestock Auction Market were processed using the developed program to obtain different parameters. These parameters were correlated with body score. The best parameters that yields the best condition was used, which is circularity. A model that related body score and circularity was developed and had R² equal to 37.53%. The model was used for the program to convert circularity values obtained from pictures of cattle to body score. It was determined that the program has a mean % error of 36.25%. Based on the values obtained from the test, it is concluded that the program was successful on predicting body score and has potential for improvement.
