Abstract
With the height of buildings being constructed in the urban areas getting higher and higher, the risk of building's susceptibility to a lightning strike also rises. Likewise, buildings being overshadowed by neighboring taller buildings acquire a lesser probability to lightning strike. Hence, computation to a building's lightning risk assessment has been developed by the NFPA 780 to provided analysis whether a building is in need of a lightning protection system or not. Consequently, given that a building has been computed to need a lightning protection system, design analysis and computation is also been provided. Otherwise, if a building id presented to be not needing a lightning protection system, a building is assured to be protected from lightning strike without need for a lightning protection system, offering a financial advantage to the owner without sacrificing the safety of the tenants.
