Abstract

Camarines Sur II Electric Cooperative’s (CASURECO II) vision is to provide electricity to all the areas of the Camarines Sur province. The design of single wire earth return system for rural electrification drives the electric cooperative a step further into achieving this goal. This study shows a design of the single wire earth return (SWER) system that can be used for rural electrification. Survey results, evaluation and equipment installed, and tables used by the electric cooperative will be shown and comparisons of SWER versus conventional two-wire distribution systems will be shown. The standards and recommended practices used by the electric cooperative will be shown as well. Finally, basic electrical techniques needed as an electrical engineer are included within the discussion.
