Abstract

Electrical system is the generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy to end-users. Each part of this network has its own losses that reduce the efficiency of the whole system and distribution transformer is one of the top sources of losses in distribution transformers at feeder 1 of Camote Island using the ERC-DSL required data. these data contains the characteristics and detailed specification of the CELCO. It is also used as input parameters in the DSL segregator 2.0 which is a program that compute and segregates the losses in the distribution system. Using the data, the author analyzed and evaluated each distribution transformer. He identified the loading characteristic of the transformer and the optimal size for the specific loading. The author used two methods of computing for the peak loading of the distribution transformer and compared their value difference. The author also quantified how much loss is reduced if the computed optimum size of distribution transformer is use. From the author's computations, the loss reduction made on each distribution transformer is insignificant but because of the quantity of distribution transformers in the system, its aggregate loss reduction can produce the otherwise.
