Abstract
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) has been the major problem and cause of investment lost in electronic industry. In order to counteract the effect of this phenomenon hazard, electronic companies and specialized organizations devised method of preventing ESD. These methods include grounding, isolation and neutralization each has its area of concentration in ESD prevention. In this study, an equipment being used in neutralization method was examined. This equipment is called the air ionizer. it has the capability of producing charges by generating ions and throwing them to the surface where neutralization is applied. The study discussed the mechanism on how air ionizer can prevent ESD. The study also examined the important parameters considered in implementing the air ionizer. The study provides the threshold or range of values for these parameters.
